Fabric roller shades are becoming increasingly popular, especially when compared to their vinyl equivalents. The use of fabric offers a warmer aesthetic than vinyl, allowing you to create a cozier home with these types of shades.
But that is far from the only benefit that this window treatment offers. Here are a few more reasons why a fabric roller shade may be right for you:
At Factory Direct Blinds, we specialize in offering fabric roller shades and blinds for every room in your house. Whether you’re looking for budget blinds designed to keep your costs low, a blackout shade that completely darkens your room, or cordless window shades, we have something for you in our collection.
That’s not all.
Our handy guide shows you how to measure your windows so you don’t get stuck with a roller blind that doesn’t fit.
With the help of the Factory Direct Blinds team, you’re sure to find the right window blinds for your home.
Roller shades are among the simplest of window treatments. They’re shades made using a single roll of fabric, which you can raise or lower depending on whether or not you want to look out of your window. They typically get fitted above your window frame and use a cord loop for operation.
Though roller blinds are made using a sheet of fabric, it’s not a good idea to submerge them in water when cleaning. Instead, use a vacuum with a brush attachment to lightly dust the blinds. Support the shades from the back to prevent the fabric from crumpling and getting sucked into the vacuum.
Adding fabric to a vinyl roller shade creates a brand-new look. Trim about 1/8 of an inch from each side of the vinyl. Choose a lightweight fabric and measure it to the same size as the trimmed vinyl. Then, bind the two materials using contact cement and glue.
As long as you cut the fabric to fit the frame and have a full roller shade kit, you should be able to add fabric to an existing roller shade. You’ll usually need an adhesive to stick the fabric to the existing material used in the shade.
